We took our kids to see the Draper Temple Open house. They were so excited to go inside of the temple and see it's beauty. What a blessing it is to be able to enter a temple and feel of the Lord's Peace and Comfort within it's walls!

A delicious home cooked meal

My wife is an amazing chef. When she wants to cook, she can really cook. I'm grateful for her talent and willingness to cook a delicious home cooked meal. Tonight it was orange spice chicken, Kneader's bread with oil and vinegar, and steamed veggies. MMMMMMM. Thanks Honey!

My Cousin is going to Mozambique

My cousin was just called to Mozambique on a mission. He will serve his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 24 months. He will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and invite people to repent and be baptized. I am so excited for him. He is a stellar kid, and making the right choices in his life. Congratulations!!!

It's Christmas time again, and we get to celebrate the LIFE of CHRIST. I truly am grateful for Christ. His life, example, and atonement are of up most importance to me. Remember the reason for the season, and don't get caught up in the commercial side. Let's all give a little more, and want a little less!

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin Passes Away

A beloved Apostle of Jesus Christ passed away last night. Elder Wirthlin will be greatly missed. His most recent conference address has been an inspiration to me, and will always be a favorite for years to come!

Life's Road Map to Follow

I recently attended a good friends funeral. She was all but 59 years of age, and passed away after a courageous and long battle with cancer. As I sat and contemplated it all, I gained peace and reassurance that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as revealed by Joseph Smith Jr., offers us understanding. We learn who we are, why we are here, and where we will go after this life. I am grateful that through my temple marriage, if my family and I live worthily, we will be together again after this life. There is nothing I want more, than to be with my wife and daughters again. That, is true JOY!

Peace

In a world where daily, the media tries to strip us of our personal peace, we can have an assurance of peace that God is with us. I am grateful for that peace. He said in John 14: 27
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." What are we doing on a daily basis to bring His peace into our hearts?

The Unexpected....

Let's just say, Heavenly Father hears our prayers. Yesterday I re-listened to President Uchtdorf's message entitled "The Infinite Power of Hope." It was a great reminder that God has always heard my prayers and answered them in a manner that is best. It may not be according to my time table, nor how I want it, but in the long run, it's best. I was reminded yesterday of a time when I had done everything thing I could, but still was falling short in accomplishing something. I prayed that I would be helped in accordance with His will. Not too long before the deadline, I received a phone call saying the task had been accomplished. A tear filled my eye as I know the Lord helped me. Remember....Faith, Hope and Charity. He does hear us, and loves us.

Golf....

I went golfing with my Grandpa today. We had a great time. Golf is one of the only major physical activities out there that you can enjoy at any age. A gentleman was golfing behind us with his three year old son. He let him tee-up every hole and smack it right into the nearest hazard. I thought that was awesome. So, take a couple hours out for yourself and go enjoy an round of golf with someone close.

I love the rain. It has rained in Utah the past few days, and we were left with snow capped mountains. I love a hot cup of chocolate, the sound of rain dancing on our patio, and my family by my side laughing and giggling. Life sure is grand!

Prophet!

Talk about uncertain times. With all that is going on in the world, I can see how some individuals would be full of fear. The economy is failing, there is political unrest in many countries, wars and rumors of wars, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc. I find peace listening to the Prophet's voice and following his divine inspired instructions. This weekend we have the opportunity to listen to his words, addressed to the world, via TV, Internet, radio, and later printed in the Ensign.

I invite everyone to take a moment and listen to President Thomas S. Monson's counsel. He is God's Mouthpiece on the Earth.

Peaches!!!

Have you ever sat down and sank your teeth into a big, delicious, juicy peach? I love them. We bought the best peaches from a local orchard. A few of my favorite peach dishes include fresh peach pie, peaches and cream, peach jam, and peaches a la carte. Anyway, just another small and simple thing our loving Heavenly Father has given us, and I am grateful for it!

P.S. if you haven't had a peach yet this season, you had better hurry!!!!

My Toothbrush!!!

Tonight we helped assemble hygiene kits that were donated to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. These kits will be handed out to people in need during a disaster. The Church has run low on these kits due to all of the recent worldwide disasters. Anyway, it sure makes you grateful for you warm shower, personal tooth brush, shelter over your head etc. I read today that my friends parents, living in Houston, were without electricity 16 days after hurricane Ike. I really am grateful for all of the comforts that my family and I enjoy!

Helaman 12:2 reads, "Yea, and we may see at the very time when he doth prosper his people, yea, in the increase of their fields, their flocks and their herds, and in gold, and in silver, and in all manner of precious things of every kind and art; sparing their lives, and delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; softening the hearts of their enemies that they should not declare wars against them; yea, and in fine, doing all things for the welfare and happiness of his people; yea, then is the time that they do harden their hearts, and do forget the Lord their God, and do trample under their feet the Holy One—yea, and this because of their ease, and their exceedingly great prosperity."

And In Doctrine and Covenants 98:1 we read "Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks;"
